A memorable Holi

Holi, a Hindu festival, celebrates the triumph of good over evil. This Holi, the Give One Campaign chose to spread joy by selling eco-friendly and natural holi colours in different localities.

Gulmeher, an initiative supported by the Shakti Foundation supports female livelihoods by providing female waste pickers with alternate incomes as artisans. This holi, these women created their own holi colours from discarded flowers. There were four different colours available, yellow, orange, green and pink. By packaging different quantities in earth packs, paper pouches, etc, they were sold at prices ranging from Rs. 110 to Rs. 400.

We sold these colours in three locations, Panchsheel Enclave and C-9 Vasant Kunj in New Delhi as well as The Vilas in Gurugram. We collected a total of about Rs. 10,000 and this money will be used to support the livelihoods of these artisans as well as Gulmeher's other social programs.

The entire experience was not only full of excitement but also heartwarming. Each sale meant so much to us and we hope that this Holi, was as joyful for all the donors and artisans as it was to us.
